Welcome to Yahara River Learning Center!
We are a nature-based program for preschool through school-age care. Our playground and facilities are centered around the belief that all children need nature in their lives, that it is a good thing to be messy and dirty, and that we all learn best when we can truly experience learning.
Our staff is devoted to early childhood and creates a school community in which all children feel included. We believe in building on children’s strengths and treating them as the individuals they are. We also believe that relationships with their parents and siblings are as important as relationships formed in the classrooms. Communication, as always, is key.
Our brand-new facility opening soon has been developed to support best practices in early childhood education. We serve the Windsor Elementary School area and DeForest Area School District but welcome children from all communities, and we take pride in seeking out the best staff possible to work with them. Our lead staff have a minimum of an associate’s degree in Early Childhood, and our two directors boast more than 50 years of collective experience in Early Childhood!
Children as young as 1 year old are welcome at our center. We also have 2-, 3- and 4-year-old classrooms, along with before- and after-school programs and summer camps for school-age children between 5 and 11. Our classes stay together for the entire school year and move up in August to their new classroom.
The building has seven classrooms: one for 1-year-olds, one for 2-year-olds, two for 3-year-olds and two for 4-year-olds. The seventh classroom is for school-age children as well as part-time 4K students.
