Weather Related Closings & Other Closings

WEATHER RELATED CLOSINGS

Yahara River Learning Center will remain open during most severe weather. The Director and/or Assistant Director will monitor the weather and local news stations to determine when it is appropriate to close the center early or cancel care for the following day.

In the event that Yahara River Learning Center closes early or cancels for the following day, parents/guardians will be contacted and informed of the situation. Children should be picked up in a reasonable amount of time to ensure all parents, children and staff can safely travel home. Families will still be charged during weather closings.

Yahara River Learning Center will follow the DeForest Area School District for any school closings due to hazardous road conditions (snow, ice, etc.) If DeForest Area School District closes due to extreme cold, Yahara River Learning Center will not unless it is unsafe due to building issues. (i.e. furnace can’t keep up) If DeForest Area School District does not close, and hazardous road conditions exist, we will close Yahara River Learning Center for the safety of our students, staff and families.

Families will be notified via our Facebook page and Procare.

OTHER CLOSINGS

Such closings can be caused by, but not limited to, dangerous and/or hazardous weather, chemical or biological hazards, pandemic/public health issues, loss of heat/AC. Phone outages, water safety and electrical outages. Families will still be charged during these closings. If there is an extended closing, family’s tuition may be reduced (closing over two weeks).
